The Late Author Stieg Larsson and his Legacy of Doom

One has to feel a little remorse for the late Stieg Larsson. The author has apparently left a fourth instalment of his phenomenal crime trilogy on his laptop, which is currently in the hands of his lover Eva Gabrielsson. Does this forecast a book entitled ‘The Girl with the Hidden Laptop?’

Seriously though, sitting tightly on this extremely hot property must be such an empowering sensation for the lady in question. Incidentally, as uncanny fiction can sometimes mirror reality: her actions are in turn infuriating Larsson’s Estate holders, those being his father and younger brother.

The wrangle between Camp Gabrielsson and Larson’s relatives could almost run like a psychological thriller itself.

One wonders whether it’s his lover or his relatives who are licking their fingers at the huge money pot Larsson has amalgamated since his death. Gabrielsson, having never married Larsson, apparently has never benefitted from this gathering fortune, therefore one wonders why she feels so strongly about withholding his fourth and final manuscript, hence becoming ’The Girl Who Kicked The In-laws Aside?’

Enough!

Also, interestingly, Gabrielsson insists that Stieg would have been horrified at the title of this first book ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ saying that the original title ‘Men Who Hate Women,’ was chosen by him to strongly portray the theme of violence perpetrated against women.

But on the serious question of copyright ownership, is Gabrielsson even entitled to the Laptop and the valuable contents which belonged to her late lover? Plus what are her motives for holding on to it? Are Larssons relatives merely gold-diggers desperate to add to Larssons fortune?

As far as story ideas are concerned, there is so much potential here it’s almost laughable. Please someone just hand me a pen!

Now who will be the one to capitalise on a future memoir possibly entitled, ‘Stieg: The Late Author, His Fortune, His Lover and His Greedy Family?’

    Something tells me she is holding out for a good deal… or am I being cynical again?

    Personally I am pleased that ‘dragon tattoo’ wasn’t called ‘Men who hate Women”, as I’d never have bought a book with that title. It is awful.

    Hmm what else can she be holding out for? Unless she is just being ‘awkward’ or ‘spiteful’ but what’s the motive for that? Perhaps she never liked the in-laws sunday lunches. Shame we can’t interview her to find out! What is possibly a little more worrying for his family is that she can change the manscript or god forbid erase it! Eek, the stress!

    Good job we didn’t get that book title is right. I have yet to read it. It is number 402 on my current list. At this rate I will be on to it at the age of 47 and a half.

    To be honest, I read the trilogy and though I did enjoy them, that was the end for me. I have no intention of reading a fourth, because;
    A) 3 is a very pleasing number, and
    B) I don’t really care what ‘The Girl…’ does next. Quite happy leaving it on a high note.
